Phillipa Bloom

Phillipa is an artist photographer based in Hong Kong. A nomadic life across Asia and Africa has fed her deep interest in our interrelatedness with the land, and with each other. Phillipa visualises these connections as a means to contextualise and consider memory, identity and place. She is instinctively drawn to the sensory nature of landscapes and the intimate possibilities of portraiture.

She shoots both analog and digital and supports her personal work with private and commercial commissions. Her pro bono community work is a fundamental element of her practice.

Phillipa has exhibited at, among others, FOTO WIEN 2022, BJP Edition 365, Head On Photo Festival 2021, Festival Pil’ Ours 2022 and 2019, the Shutter Hub Open 2018 and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2018. She received an Honorable Mention in the 18th Julia Margaret Cameron Awards for four portraits in her series ‘becoming 12’ and again, in the 20th edition in 2023, for a series of Hong Kong portraits. Also in 2023, Phillipa was Shortlisted for the BJP’s Portrait of Humanity Awards as well as being featured in the accompanying Portrait of Humanity Volume 5 book by Hoxton Mini Press.

Phillipa received an Honorable Mention in the 23rd Julia Margaret Cameron Award for her cityscape series Hà Nội and, more recently, three awards in their 25th edition including Single Image Winner in the Cell Phone category and two Honorable Mentions in the Children and People sections, all from “my work with families and the land that I hold close to my heart”.

Phillipa’s sold work can be found in homes worldwide.
