My photography practice embodies my curiosity about the world. Much as I love a sunset, a breathtaking view or a perfectly-lit scene, there is so much more to the world. There are the things that are past-their-best, that have been deliberately spoiled, that have been exploited. This is all the world, and it has stories to tell.
Whilst there is much beauty, goodness and joy in the world, we fool ourselves if we ignore everything else.
There are three pillars to my practice:
Witness – human beings are a massively disruptive and destabilising force in the world. I want to examine, understand and document this impact.
Rebellion – there are many brave people who realise what we are doing to the world and are resisting. I want to support them and amplify their efforts because they offer hope.
Wild – this is still a beautiful planet. It is unique in its ability to support life. I want to celebrate the extraordinary and complex gift of life that we have all been given. It is my hope that as we all better understand how fortunate we are, we will be driven to protect the planet that gives us life. That is the best safeguard for the future.
I am currently crowdfunding to publish my first photobook about the environmental crisis. See the crowdfunder link below …
